Show us your city and join the discussion about building more creative, inclusive, sustainable cities in East Asia. Contributions, comments and submissions to our call-outs all make you eligible to win a trip to the UK to experience the 2010 London Festival of Architecture.

Three ways to enter: 1) Show us your city in a blog post, photo set, video or map. 2) Submit a story and become a contributor to the site. 3) Share your thoughts on posts that interest you and become a regular commentor.

Three ways to enter: 1) Show us your city in a blog post, photo set, video or map. 2) Submit a story and become a contributor to the site. 3) Share your thoughts on posts that interest you and become a regular commentor.

How do I enter?

There are several ways you can enter this competition:

1. Show us your city: take us on a journey through the streets of your neighbourhood, tell us what inspires you, what frustrates you, and what you makes your part of the world unique. This can take the form of a blog post, photo set, video, annotated map or you may submit an existing project which tells the story of your creative city. See our original post on this competition for more examples and ideas for your entry.

2. Contribute a story: share your opinions and experiences in a 500+ word blog post that relates to creative cities in our region. Email us with your post idea to develop your story.

3. Be an outstanding commenter: add your thoughts to our posts on a regular basis, help us see the issues from your perspective, tell us about your experiences and suggest ideas and stories for your fellow readers to explore.

How will a winner be selected?

A panel of Creative Cities East Asia contributors and special guests with expertise in this field will be invited to view a shortlist of finalists in late March. This panel will be asked to decide which of the comments, contributions or submissions have stimulated the most discussion and thought and which have spread the ideas of creative city-making in our region. This panel will determine the winning entry.

Who can enter?

Entry is open to residents of any of the 12 countries within the scope of the Creative Cities East Asia blog, namely; Australia, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

    Hi Peppy and Sari,

Thanks for your interest in the competition, you are more than welcome to work with a team of contributors however there is only one prize to be awarded, so you will have to find the best way to share it among your team if you are selected as our winner.

Hi. I would like to submit my entire blog My Manila at http://manila-photos.blogspot.com.

It’s nothing fancy, just a photo (or more) a day of the mega-city that is Metro Manila. I’ve missed some days in the past, but I’ve been blogging about my crazy, dirty, crowded, but wonderful-in-so-many-ways home for two years now. According to my own tag cloud, I’ve posted architectural photos more than any other topic, but I try to feature many other things too, like food, art, theater, Filipino customs and history. Sometimes, I also bring my readers outside of Metro Manila, when I go on trips with my family and friends. I don’t always post just nice things either—poverty, poor urban planning, pollution and government corruption are also realities of living in Manila.

Even if it doesn’t win, I hope that many of you will begin to appreciate and understand Manila beyond what reaches international news through my blog. In the end, that’s what keeps me posting, even when my work and other responsibilities make it difficult to find the time.

    Thank you.

I made three blog posts about my creative Jakarta :) When writing the entries, I’d like people in the world to know Jakarta as what Jakarta is! The sweet and the funnily bitter side (eg: the traffic jams). Every cities in this world have problems, and so does Jakarta. I bet aside of the traffic jams, people still would love to visit Jakarta for its dynamically growing creative sides!

    Creative Destinations: Tebet

Jakarta is a big city and it has so many creative destinations. I choose one district in Jakarta which have the most creative shops, it’s Tebet area of Jakarta! : )

    Jakarta Street Tales

Like it or not, we’re still dealing with the traffic jam problems. But hey! There are 5+1 things you don’t know (and can enjoy) about Jakarta streets! :p

We hope you enjoy this showcase of the vibrant community of the inner western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. Here we give you a taste of the rich variety of initiatives going on that can be an inspiration to any communties experiencing the pressures of city living, gentrification, and rising urban density. We sincerely hope this will be considered as an entry for the London Festival of Architecture — we sincerely hope to be able to share our own stories within that forum also.
    Enjoy!

I’ve just been looking through the Festival of Architecture website, and it looks amazing. So many outdoor activities and events. I like the hub structure which encourages broad regions of the city to participate. It’s far more organic and community based than what i expected before first visiting the site. There seems to be a genuine push from within the festival to promote the transparency of Londons development plans — through events like:
    — “Planning in London in a New Political and Economic Climate“
    — “LFA Clerkenwell & City of London Hub walking tour 1″

My personal favorite however is the public street side dinner party…
The festival would definitely be best experienced on street level… travelling from hub to hub by bike.

Well done to all other enrants and best of luck, one of us will be enjoying London in a few months :-) … especially of interest was the 360 degree photographs of manilla… what amazing technology!
