Semi Permanent was a two day celebration of all things design, taking place in Auckland this August. Speakers explored the best in Graphic Design, Film, Art, Illustration, Web Design, Photography, Visual Effects, Animation, Graffiti, Motion Graphics, Stop Motion and more.

Each year the British Council partners in the event to bring over a selection of top UK designers to showcase, and explore the diverse and exciting design world, bringing together exceptionally talented artists and designers to present at the event.

It’s not only our speakers that make the event special. It’s the atmosphere and spirit that the audience itself brings with them. Throughout the two days of the event, there is an amazing feeling of inspiration and energy. A sense of shared views and ideals. Of like-minded people who have much to learn and also knowledge to impart. It’s a casual atmosphere where new friends are made and new colleagues discovered. It’s this that sets Semi-Permanent apart from other more corporate conferences, a shared feeling that you belong to a community. That you’re a creative individual, not just a commodity.

This year the British Council supported the UK designers who were present, as well as holding a special SP event in Wellington at the New Dowse for the Capital’s design community. Presenting were Sanky from All Of Us, Philip Hunt from Studio AKA and Harry Pearce from Pentagram. You can view an overview of the thought-provoking and visually-engaging presentations here, and view Harry Pearce’s presentation below:
